His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is widely
regarded as the foremost Vedic scholar, translator, and teacher of
the modern era.
He is the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna
Consciousness. Srila Prabhupada, as he is known to his followers,
translated and commented over eighty volumes of the Vedas’ most
important sacred bhakti texts, including the Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Srimad Bhagavatam, and so on.
His Holiness Gopal Krishna Goswami Maharaj has been a highly revered spiritual leader and initiating guru within ISKCON. After studying business management at the Sorbonne and McGill University, his life profoundly transformed when he met his spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada, in Montreal in 1968. Fully dedicating himself to the movement, he accepted the sannyasa order in 1981 and has since served in vital leadership roles, including as a Governing Body Commissioner (GBC) for expansive regions across India, North America, the CIS, and Africa, as well as Chairman and Trustee of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust. Renowned for his selfless devotion, compassionate intellect, and management expertise, Maharaja has been instrumental in taking global Vedic book distribution to historic heights, establishing monumental temple complexes like the “Glory of India” in New Delhi, and spearheading massive humanitarian food relief programs that nourish hundreds of thousands daily.
His Holiness Guru Prasad Swami Maharaj, currently the GBC Chairman of ISKCON, discovered the Hare Krishna movement during his military service after studying nuclear physics in the United States. Joining a pioneering group of devotees in Costa Rica, he was initiated by Srila Prabhupada in 1976 and accepted sannyasa in 1982. From his early days distributing publications and serving as temple president, he has dedicated his life to opening temples and expanding ISKCON throughout Latin America. Serving as a GBC member since 1987, he oversees numerous regions including Mexico, Central and South America, and parts of the United States.
